10 with a 10: LEXI HASLAM

10 with a 10.
Every Monday.

The only parameters are that it bolsters up a:
1. Toronto
2. Woman
3. Who answers 10 inquiring questions.

This week, Lexi Haslam, the valiant engine behind her company, Lexington and Co.
Wh-UH-t can I say about Lexi besides you'll know when she's in the room. Not solely because she's got a lions mane of blonde and a breaking laugh to the moon, but she's a magnet, a little gravity all her own. Yeah, that's how I feel about Lexi. She's gravity.
She's a force with just the most giving, warm, hilarious, contagious pull.

1. What do you do and what does it give to people?

I’m a wedding and events planner. I get to celebrate love and friendship and it's my job to make people happy. My clients receive peace of mind, positive energy and direction leading up to and on their special day. Planning a wedding or special event can be stressful, and as their planner I take on and manage that stress so they can enjoy the process.

2. What's a piece of advice you consistently find yourself giving out but find hard to take yourself?

Balance. I think that balance is the key to happiness and success.

I am very passionate about the work I do and at times I forget to give myself “ME TIME” to do the things that I love like dancing, photography, and spending time with my friends and family.  One of my favourite quotes reminds me to stay balanced:

“Promise me you will not spend so much time treading water and trying to keep your head above the waves that you forget, truly forget, how much you have always loved to swim.” – Tyler Knott

3. How do you rely on others to make you better?

I’ve been really lucky to have a beautiful family and group of friends to rely on. They're energetic and bring so much good to the world. They make me a better me and have a zest for life that helps me to feel alive.
And laugh.

A lot.

4. Someone gives you 50 mill. What's the FIRST way your life changes?

4. What has compelled you forward more than anything else?

I want to do it all and make the most out of my life.
I have a hard time relaxing because of this, but it drives me. I want to learn, grow and experience life and people. I want my company to be successful and it’s a lot of work being an entrepreneur – A LOT OF WORK – more than I had imagined, but it’s worth it.

So at the end of the day, success, ambition, knowledge and happiness is what moves me and gives me faith that I am on the right path and able to fight through the hardest of days.

6. Do you like when people ask you, "Where do you want to be in 5 years?"

I’m indifferent to the questions. However,  I think it’s good to have a five year plan as long as you’re flexible and gentle with yourself. It is good to have life goals, but it also okay to change them because we as humans are changing all of the time.

Me 5 years ago thinking where I would be today is very different than the “29” year old me today.

7. If someone was handed a script of your inner dialogue this week, what would it say?

“The Grass is greener where you water it.”

8. Are you spontaneous?

Yes, hell, I sure hope so! I schedule people’s life for a living, so when I get to fly my freak flag – I DAMN WELL DO!

9. Are you failing differently each time?

Life is not black and white and that grey area has me learning a lot about my work, my people and myself.

 10. Paul Newman or Robert Redford?

Robert Redford.
