10 with a 10.
Every Monday, 10 questions with a 10 coming your way down the DP pipeline.

Next up, Priyanka Rego of Paper Trail Designs!
This beautiful woman responded to my cold call in her inbox with such enthusiasm and joy. In person, she was nothing less. She is so incredibly open and a happiness sits in her eyes that you walk away with feeling yourself.

1. What do you do and what does it give to people?

I provide calligraphy services and create and sell hand printed cards and art prints.

I love and appreciate handwritten or handmade things, even a scribbled note! I could look at a handwritten note for a long time. There’s so much more than just the words on the paper. I believe they hold a story within them.

So there’s something about creating handmade products, a beauty in it that’s deep and unscientific that I hope provides people with some pause. And I create cards to give people a reason to write more. Long live snail mail!
Just like ten spoken sentences will never amount to a hug, ten emails or messages will never be able to replace a handwritten note.

2. What's a piece of advice you consistently find yourself giving out but find hard to take yourself?

Be present.
Be present.
Be present.
It’s the easiest and most difficult thing to do.

3. How do you rely on others to make you better?

My relationships are everything to me! It’s so important for me to have a diverse group of people around me for many chats, advice, comfort and laughs.
I also love having intense, challenging conversations. I believe that has a big impact on my varied views of the world.

4. Someone gives you 50 mill. What's the FIRST way your life changes?

Well the first way it would change is that I would be rich. Ha.

Ok, but seriously, I would be ensuring my loved ones were taken care of financially while simultaneously booking flights and packing. I would sweep my husband off his feet very romantically and take him with me to so many places!

I’d continue to do what I’m doing. I would just buy myself a big studio and many, many more supplies! But, I would love to be able to channel my work to somehow create change for issues I’m passionate about.

5. What has compelled you forward more than anything else?

Hmm... I'd say it’s been different things at different times. When I changed my career a couple of years ago, I guess it was desiring risk. I wanted to prove to myself that I didn’t have to follow the path I had started on and detours were not just welcome, but necessary. Lately, it’s probably pressure and drive. I’m passionate about the work I’m doing, but it’s the commitments I’ve made that’s resulting in the daily, long hours!

6. Do you like when people ask you, "Where do you want to be in 5 years?"

Ew, no.
I’ve never liked that question, maybe because I’ve always been confused about what I’ve wanted to do with my life. And now, I have no idea where Paper Trails is taking me. I’m kind of just enjoying the ride!

7. If someone was handed a script of your inner dialogue this week, what would it say?

I have to remember to put this in my planner
Where do I put all these supplies? I need more storage!!
I need to make time to chill out and draw/paint/practice calligraphy today
(oh, the irony of that last one is not lost on me!)

8. Are you spontaneous?

I’d like to think so! I did quit my steady job for this crazy entrepreneurial world after mulling over it for only a day or two…

9. Are you failing differently each time?

Yeah, I think so. Even if I fall into the same problems repeatedly, there’s always a different feel to it because I believe we come out of every problem learning something. We’re always moving forward.

10. Paul Newman or Robert Redford?

I couldn’t say.
Also, I get nervous around celebrities.
